Using your Ultrasonic Aroma diffuser to repel mosquitoes and other flying insects during Spring/Summer.
During hot weather GENTLE BREEZES Aroma Diffuser also functions as a diffuser to use indoors to keep mosquitoes out of the house. There are various essential oils that will repel mosquitoes and other flying insects as well.
Citronella for instance is an essential oil that’s used for repelling mosquitoes. It’s known for its slightly brighter, less “grassy” aroma. And it blends nicely with a little bit of peppermint to keep those critters away in the summer.
SPRING/SUMMER TIP
Using Ultrasonic Technology, the Gentle Breezes Essential Oil Diffuser transforms the mixture of water and essential oils into an extra fine aromatic mist, and gradually releases it into the surroundings for up to 7 hours continuously.

Generally because of the cost of catnip essential oil, we recommend using just a tiny amount in your diffuser blend — here’s a couple of ideas to add based on 100 to 120 ml of water.
Mosquito Repellent Diffuser Blend #1
3 drops Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Citradora)
2 drops Geranium or Rose Geranium
1 drop Catnip Essential Oil
1 drop Peppermint
Mosquito Repellent Diffuser Blend #2
3 drops Citronella
2 drops Lemon Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Citradora)
1 drop Catnip
Other Oils to Experiment with
Rose Geranium on its own is supposedly very effective, though just a little costly to run all summer to keep the bugs out. If you really need it though, you might give it a try – or run it some of the time just for your own aromatic experience, and switch during the day.
Peppermint on it’s own has been used successfully. Something that’s been described in aromatherapy texts is putting drops of peppermint oil on tissues and leaving them by windows when traveling, and there are no screens to keep insects out. Peppermint is useful for keeping spiders away as well.
Either Eucalyptus Citradora (Lemon Eucalyptus) and/or Citronella are certainly “stand by” oils. We prefer the Citradora for it’s slightly brighter, less “grassy” aroma.
Many people have success with cedarwood — particularly in areas where ticks are a problem, and it too has a great scent.
